Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) department of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh organised a day-long orientation programme for freshers for its Spring intake at ULAB Campus B on February 15.

Around 90 newly enrolled undergraduate students took part in the event organised by PR4U, an apprenticeship programme of the department.

Prof Dr Jude William R Genilo, head of MSJ department, delivered the welcome speech.

After that, the faculty members introduced themselves one by one, and shared motivational words with the new students.

Assistant Professor Mohammad Shazzad Hossain, also MSJ Undergraduate Coordinator, through a PowerPoint presentation shared the “History” and “Mission” of the department with the new students.

Naimul Karim, lecturer and MSJ internship coordinator, gave an inspirational speech about portfolio creation and highlighted importance of a portfolio in the present job market.

At the programme, two short films -- “Pothe Pothe” and “Dinghi” -- were screened, showcasing some of the outstanding works by the MSJ students.

Later, PR4U volunteers guided the students to designated rooms for sessions with respective advisors. Following the sessions, students were taken to a campus tour. As part of the tour, they visited Media Lab, library and so forth.

The second session started after a lunch break. Students gathered at multipurpose room at Campus B where CEOs of different apprenticeship programmes of the department spoke about their activities so that new students get motivated to join them.

Last but not least, the day-long programme ended with a musical programme that enthralled the audience.
