Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival held at ULAB

The first ever Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) took place at ULAB on 17 February.

Organised by CinemaScope, a film apprenticeship programme of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) department of ULAB, the festival is a first of kind in Bangladesh. Previously it was known as Cinemascope Mobile Film Competition.

 

This year, DIMFF received 116 films from 35 countries. Of them, 20 films were selected for two categories -- 15 for screening category and 5 for competition category.

In the screening category, 15 selected films were exhibited in the first session.

In the competition category, Indian film “Vilambal” by Senthamizhan Arunachalam Manjula is declared winner. Festival director Mir Wadud Islam collected the prize on behalf of the winner.

 

Md Manzurur Rahman, additional secretary to Bangladesh Public Service Commission, was present at the award giving ceremony as the chief guest.

The jury board consists of film maker, writer and film scholar Matin Rahman; writer, director and producer Proshoon Rahmaan; and writer and film critic Bidhan Rebeiro.

The festival’s event partners are: Color Canvas and other ULAB apprenticeship programmes -- PR4U, Radio CampBuzz, ULAB TV and ULAB Animation Studio.
