MSJ Department Hosts Freshers’ Orientation and Apprenticeship Program – Fall 2025

The Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) successfully hosted its Fall 2025 Freshers’ Orientation and Apprenticeship Program at the ULAB Permanent Campus. The event welcomed new students to the MSJ community, offering an introduction to the department’s academic vision and hands-on professional culture.

Professor Sumon Rahman, Head of the MSJ Department, inaugurated the event with an inspiring address, declaring, “Welcome to the world’s most misunderstood department.” He discussed how media studies goes beyond a single discipline, blending creativity, analytical thinking, and social responsibility. “We love freedom of expression, we love to tell the truth, and this is our profession,” he said.

Following his address, Assistant Professor of the MSJ department, Dr. Mohammad Shazzad Hossain, PhD. gave an overview of ULAB’s student community and academic offerings, while Departmental Coordinator and Senior Lecturer, Syeda Sadia Mehjabin, elaborated on the MSJ Department’s vision, emphasizing its dedication to professional growth and practical learning.

In closing, a specially curated video presentation showcased the impact of MSJ’s apprenticeship programs, illustrating the department’s commitment to career-oriented education. The event concluded with an awards giving ceremony recognizing the outstanding achievements of students in the apprenticeship program, celebrating their dedication and contributions across various media projects.
