Workshop on “Workshop on Conceptualizing Research- Summer 2025 " held at ULAB
The Master in Communication program under the Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) organized the "Workshop on Conceptualizing Research" as part of its regular workshop series for research students. The program was held at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) on Saturday, July 05, 2025.
The workshop is designed to help students explore their personal goals and real-life experiences to meaningfully connect with potential thesis or project topics. Through structured activities and guided discussions, students are encouraged to identify relevant research areas and develop initial concept papers outlining their objectives and motivations.
The interactive segments were facilitated by MSJ faculty members — Associate Professor Sarkar Barbaq Quarmal, PhD, Assistant Professor Mohammad Shazzad Hossain, PhD, Senior Lecturer Syeda Sadia Mehjabin, and Senior Lecturer Andalib Rubayat.
The introductory session, highlighted through discussion and role play. The importance of self-reflection and long-term academic and professional goals in selecting a thesis topic. Later, they guided group discussions and one-on-one sharing sessions, helping students refine their research interests and articulate the purpose behind their proposed projects.
This initiative reflects MSJ’s continued commitment to fostering academic excellence and nurturing creative and critical thinkers in the field of communication and cultural studies.
