The Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) hosted Alumni Formation Spring 2025 today at the university cafeteria, bringing together faculty members, current students, and proud graduates for a heartfelt event focused on fostering alumni relations and nurturing a lasting sense of community.

The program began with a warm welcome and an opening address by Professor Sumon Rahman, Head of the MSJ Department, who emphasized the lasting significance of alumni engagement: “The concept of alumni is that we want you in the active memory.”

Following his address, certificates were awarded to recent graduates, formally welcoming them into the MSJ alumni network. The ceremony continued with a formal oath-taking, also conducted by Professor Rahman, where graduates pledged to uphold the values of ULAB, serve society positively, and remain closely connected to their alma mater.

Faculty members shared words of encouragement and reflection, collectively underscoring the department’s commitment to maintaining meaningful relationships with its alumni. Their messages highlighted the importance of staying connected, the department’s ongoing support for graduates, and the shared aspiration to build a vibrant and supportive alumni network rooted in mutual respect, inspiration, and enduring bonds.

The event also featured moving stories from two alumni, who reflected on their journey beyond university and the impact of their MSJ education; Md. Atikur Rahman, for instance, mentioned, “I tried out different institutions, but it was only here I felt I could grow, and I am happy to finally cross the line.” Members of the ULAB Alumni Association’s organizing team shared their mission to cultivate an engaged and thriving alumni community.

The gathering concluded with heartfelt applause from alumni and students alike, deeply touched by the support and sincerity of their mentors. The event served as a reaffirmation that the MSJ Department is more than an academic institution — it is a lifelong home for its graduates.
